Hi, thanks for popping by and checking out our new website. I thought it would be nice to introduce the team and tell you a bit about us and how we ended up running a rosette manufacturing business.
My name is Tara Lane, owner of Centrepiece Rosettes which I started in March 2016. I grew up surrounded by animals and competed in my first lead rein competition when I was about 3. I never remember learning to ride a pony, i’d say i was plonked on as a baby! My family has always been involved in horses, my mum Anne Lane used to train and ride in Point to Points very successfully and also hunted 3 days a week (sometimes 4) with various packs around Dublin, Kildare and Meath. My father, Stuart Lane showjumped and hunted so it was inevitable that the 3 girls, Caroline, Liz and I would grow up with ponies.
I had a super working hunter pony called Gambit and I competed on him from lead rein all the way up through first ridden, starter stakes to open working hunter and was placed in the RDS and the coveted IPS Points Awards. We used to travel the country going to shows and I love the fact that I now make rosettes for shows that I would I have competed at 40 years ago! I then moved onto Pony Club and represented my club at One Day Events and Dressage competitions all over Ireland. Eventing Ireland and Riding Club were next until I had my first child Emma which put a stop to my gallop around the country!
I have run my own businesses for 18 years and also worked in Sales and Marketing until 2 years ago when I decided that I wanted to be at home with my family, my mum who is now 89 years young and the animals so that is when we started Centrepiece Rosettes.
My family have always been involved in equestrian businesses, my parents had a riding centre at our home, Bridestream House in Kilcock and my mum sells equestrian books from her little white trailer at hunter trials, Tattersalls event and even takes a stand at the Punchestown racing festival. Caroline, my eldest sister owns Equipeople and also Curvy Fillies, which I started and sold onto her. Both Equipeople and Curvy Fillies are well worth a check out so click on and have a gander around.
So, now you know what brings me to making rosettes and “playing with Ribbon”, I always loved crafting and ribbon so its an ideal business for me. I’m not a natural machinist and don’t bother asking me to make something or alter clothes for you but I’m great at sewing circles and combining pretty colours. If you would like to see some of our work, check out our gallery page, its just a small selection of photos that we take before rosettes go out. If you have any pics of one of our Centrepiece Rosettes that you have won, post it on our facebook page and we will do a pic of the month to win one of our Rosette Display Hangers.
